Acupuncture
What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese Medicine and has been used for thousands of years. It involves the insertion of needles to specific Acupuncture points in the body.
Traditional Chinese Acupuncturists believe that there is an energy flow in our body which can become stagnant and manifest itself as physical pain. By needling certain points it can improve the flow of endorphins restoring balance to the body. Acupuncture can be of benefit with many injuries such as: · Muscle injury · Joint problems · Chronic pain (Tennis elbow, Lower back pain) · Nerve pain
Is it safe? Acupuncture, when performed carefully and appropriately is a very safe form of treatment, occasionally a small bruise or spot of blood develops or a feeling of light headiness may occur but will settle quickly. There are some clinical conditions such as epilepsy which may restrict acupuncture as a treatment option but the therapist will be aware of any contraindications after a thorough history taking. |
